Becoming a Volunteer

There are so many rewards and it's so easy to get involved! Get started today by following these seven easy steps:

1. Discover how you want to help
   Find the opportunity that's right for you by looking through our Volunteer Opportunities.
2. Complete the application form
   Complete the Volunteer Application. Mail, fax or drop your completed application at any YMCAs of Cambridge & Kitchener-Waterloo location. All completed applications will be forwarded to our Volunteer Coordinator.
3. Come in for an interview
   Once your information is received, a volunteer coordinator will contact you to set up an interview. At the interview you will learn more about the volunteer position and how you can help the YMCA.
4. Provide copies of current certifications
   You will be required to provide current certifications, as required.
5. Submit a current Police Records Check
   You will need to submit a current Police Records Check (current within three months) before beginning volunteer service.
6. Provide references
   The references which you supply will be contacted by the Volunteer Coordinator prior to placement.      
7. Start making a difference!
   Once you have successfully completed the first six steps, a Service Area Manager will contact you to set up a time for orientation and training.
