SETTING CAREER OBJECTIVES AND ACTION PLAN
The following Career Objectives and Action Plan sheet can be used with the participants to develop their career and action plan. The same sheet can be used for a short or long term career plan.

Short Term
This refers to the time period which starts when the newcomer comes to Canada until he/she is ready to take on a job.

Long Term
This refers to a long term plan to get into the desired occupations. A transitional job may be necessary for a short time to sustain oneself, but in the long term one must strive to get into the job of choice.

Career Objectives
In this column clients should write career objectives such as taking an ESL course at an adult ESL school, taking computer training in word processing, etc.

Courses
In this column, insert the courses (what/where) that correspond to the objectives in column one.

Training
In this column, insert the training that will be needed to accomplish each objective in column one.

Volunteer Experience
In this column, insert the volunteer experience (who/what/where) that can be obtained in order to accomplish the objective in that row.

Job Experience
In this column, list the job contacts and places to apply in order to achieve the corresponding objective in that row.
